Muskegon KOA has full hookups. Not much to do at the site but certainly a great base to use for local attractions.

Can 100% recommend Stonegate Golf Club if your a golfer. Fantastic course.

Are you looking for a campground "down around the bend" (close to Chicago) or around the midpoint (near Muskegon) or closer to Sleeping Bear Dunes (around Frankfort/Traverse City) or up near the "tip of the mitt" (Closer to Mackinaw City/Cross Village) ???

What you're asking is "where to camp" on about a 400-600 mile stretch of coastline. If you could "zero in" on what you want to do, where you're visiting, plans for travel before that stop and/or after that stop, what attractions you enjoy, it would help people make "meaningful recommendations"....

There's everything from "clothing optional campgrounds" to state park campgrounds to private resorts/rustic (and I mean lots of mosquitoes) campgrounds, virtually all of which offer full hookups.

So, what/where/when are you looking to travel?

A much newer campgrounds is Duck Creek RV Resort. It's right across the road from Michigan Adventure if that might be of interest.

We typically stay at Fisherman’s Landing right in Muskegon. They don’t have sewer, but they do have a pump out service or you can use a portable tank. Works for us staying a week at a time once or twice a year.

We have stayed at White River CG many times. It is NE of Muskegon, away from the lake but not that far. Very wooded and full hookups. The Fishmongers Wife in Muskegon had very good smoked fish.

Look at Trailway Campground in Montague.
Actually White River may be better...more room.

Poncho’s Pond in Ludington is a very nice park with full hook-ups. Reasonable rates and about 40 minutes north of Muskegon.

those seem like some nice hidden gems to check out that I probably would not have found on my own.

Thinking about White River for next July. For those that have been there, how bad are the mosquitoes and black flies? Assuming there will be a bit of humidity.
Is the river, and White Lake fishable? What species of fish?

White River is nice. I can't speak for the mosquitos and black flies as when I was there it was the last weekend they were open in october and it was a little more chilly.

I will also recommend Whispering Surf on Bass lake. Very cool place. I also enjoyed Kibby Creek. Both are pretty close to pentwater.

Lake Leelanau RV Park is nice but quite aways north of muskegon area.

Ponchos Pond is very nice as well, but too me is a little "busy".
