Can you identify this part?

I found this in the tub/shower after winterizing this month. I did disconnect the shower hose from the faucet to drain that water, but it was not obvious that this went with the shower assembly.

Anyone recognize it? If so, here does it go? It's about the size of a dime.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Yep, I think that is a flow restrictor for the shower head.

Yup, these things are inserted into the hose end like washers, and fall out all the time.

Thanks for the replies. Looking at it after your feed back, it makes sense that it is a restrictor in the shower hose. Glad it did not go down the drain!

I'll get my higher powered reading glasses and then when reinstall in the hose. Maybe then I will see what I'm supposed to do.

It may not "fit in the hose end" but may be the flow restrictor that mounted in the vacuum breaker that's a part of the actual faucet (in one of these photos, it's the black part where the hose attaches and in the other it's the gray insert in the vacuum breaker)...

Yup. I ran into this before (link) when I was looking to ease the restriction, and decided not to screw with a two-function part.

John, thanks for the photos. I have one like the second unit, but mine is installed with the hose connection is on the bottom. Appreciate you pointing out that there is a vacuum breaker feature to consider as well as the flow restriction.

LHaven, thanks for the link. Lots of good info.
