Outdoor Kitchen Awning

As I was standing at the outdoor kitchen this weekend, holding an umbrella over the grill to keep the rain off the cooktop, shivering in the cold wind, I started to wonder about adding an awning to cover the kitchen area. Has anyone done this? Some kitchens have the access door as an awning but on my Outback 291 this isn't an open.

I've seen awnings added over windows. Can the same be done over the kitchen area? Has anyone done something like this?

Your trailer has a "long awning" already. I'm not sure how much space is left between the aft awning support arm and the rear of your trailer, so you may not be able to find an awning that matches what's already on your trailer. If you use the "typical shade awning" designed for windows, that's going to put any drips from the awning falling "directly on your neck" as you try to stand in front of the stove... Plus, depending on how high you mount such a "fabric awning" you're also going to increase the amount of cooking grease that accumulates on the awning.

You might consider a "10x10 popup shelter, stand it next to the trailer and incorporate that entire space into an outdoor kitchen. You might even consider using a screen room with double zippered opening, so you could also have a "partially bug free zone"....

A "window" awning wont work as they require a bracket mounted below the window to hold them open. Have you considered a portable grill that you can set up on the picnic table and extend the trailer awning? I cook outside when ever possible and thats what I do...Never really liked the outside kitrchens.

I had a 2014 cougar that had a separate awning that was installed for covering the outdoor kitchen

I have a similar kitchen set-up, but my awning is more to the rear and covers the kitchen.
