Water heater runs out of hot

I’m using my hot water heater on gas and while using the shower it runs out hot water rather quickly. When we use it on electric it seams to have plenty of hot water to take a shower as long as you want. This seams backwards to me?
Should I have my setting on gas and electric, just gas or just electric.
Trying not to use too much electric bc our campground does not have the best voltage.
Any tips?

Buy an EMS before your campground kills the electrical appliances in your camper. If I were full timing, would use both propane & electric to heat the water or learn to take showers the "old Navy way". Turn on water; get it to comfy temp and soap up. Turn off water and scrub a dub. Turn on water and rinse.

We have a Hughes Autoformer for the reason the electricity is terrible. Keeps the camper voltage around 117-120

Gas should be better, almost twice the BTU of the electric. I would run it on gas and electric. Low voltage won't harm the water heater, it will just reduce it's output a little.

Check in the burner tube and make sure the gas flame looks good when it's running.

Just a follow up... put a signature with your year/model and you tow vehicle and folks will have a better reference for replying to questions you have. Your signature is also an ideal place to put some pithy saying or quote as well.
