Adding rain gutters

I decided that I want to add the extended spouts to my 322qbs. When I was counting how many I would need I realized there is no rain gutter over my large living room slide. The other two have them. My question is can I use the stick on gutters with the extended Camco spouts? Or should I be looking to find the screw in ones. I just want less black streaks and I hear these help. Thanks

I would opt for the screw on type gutter, with well sealed screw (butyl seal tape the entire length works well). And those gutter spouts - even the extended ones are often too short. Just on the back, I cut up a plastic milk bottle to convenient width and length and pop rivet them on to lengthen them an inch or two. A couple - you wont notice though all of them lengthened will look kinda funny

I will have to ask a dealer about getting the gutter if i go that route. I can only find the stick on stuff online.

Every RV dealer with a parts department should have aluminum rain gutter molding in 8' lengths in stock. If you're looking for a specific color (other than polar white) you might need to have him order it, but the white and usually the "brushed aluminum" (unpainted) are on hand. Last time I bought some it was $12 per 8' length. Here's one link for a comparison: https://www.ebay.com/i/331602812562?chn=ps&dispItem=1

I wouldn't suggest buying it from that EBay seller, the shipping would be far too much. But you can find it at any RV dealer at a much more competitive price.

Awesome!! Thanks. I will be at the dealer Monday so I will check then. I was thinking this was going to be an expensive project.

Nah, not expensive, but "delicate".... It'll probably cost you around $30 to install if you do it yourself...

Be sure to buy a roll of BUTYL putty tape (don't get the clay putty tape), a bag of 1.25" #2 Roberts square head screws and a "jug of rubbing alcohol" to clean the site on your trailer before installing. Remember, the roof probably slopes, so measure from the "trim rail up" so you're sure the drip molding is level.... Nothing worse than installing it, then backing away to admire your work and realizing that the front is 2" lower than the rear......

Measure twice (or three times) install once...... Good Luck !!!!!

Try taping it in place then get down off the ladder and give it an eyeball 'calibration' check too. And that suggested butyl tape - be careful if you buy on line as one AMAZON supplier advertised theirs as butyl - it isn't. My local dealer had some and at less money. For the Robertson head screws - I suggest stainless from a supplier like https://www.mcmaster.com/#tapping-screws/=186185b. No drooling rust or corroded off heads in a wet area.

Thanks again. I will probably be getting all this from a local dealer about 10 miles from my house. Butyl tape and all if they have the screws. Is there a reason for the Roberts head screws other than to make them match? I assume also that I can get a insert to cover all screw heads as it looks like there is a groove for that on the gutter material.

Yes, you can buy the vinyl insert in rolls. I buy it in 100' rolls for about $8. It's easier to pull the old, stained vinyl insert out of the channels and just replace it rather than try to clean it or stretch it, once it shrinks and leaves gaps in the molding.

The only reason for getting screws from the dealer is so they all match. It's very frustrating to get on a ladder, a#2 screwdriver in hand and find two Phillips screws in the mix. Down the ladder, get the tools, get distracted, back up the ladder (wasting 20 minutes to do a 1 minute job)... So, if you're going to do it, make all the hardware the same. You'll appreciate it sometime in the future......

Post the pics anyway. Even if it doesn't turn out perfect, two (or three or more) heads are better than one when it comes to fixing something that didn't go "quite as planned".... So, share your "success" and if you run into a glitch, share that as well. GOOD LUCK !!!!!

Before I get to far into this. Is this even worth adding gutters to?
