Caulk around windows

Is there any reason not to trim the caulk around windows? Camper is only a month old but I could only imagine it will become dirty looking in time. Thanks In advance.

Problem with trimming the excess is you may create a void around the windows/doors and introduce water. A leak can be unnoticed for quite a while before it has done damage. I agree it is unsightly.

We do it all the time. Use a plastic scraper, and just hang onto the excess. If you find a void, then pack it with the stuff in your hand.

Ok. Thanks for the replies. Never thought about the voids it might create so I will watch for that if I decide to do it.
