Keyless entry door lock

Added this to my Bullet Premier last night. It took only about 20 minutes. It works very well and required no modifications. Highly recommended!

Sure, from Camping World's website. I also saw it on Amazon. It was slightly cheaper at CW due to a sale they were having.

Yes, very easy. Almost took longer to read the directions.

On a basic level you:
1-remove 4 screws to take out your existing handle
2-remove 2 more screws on the edge of the door, (where the lock and deadbolt are)
3-put new handle in door and replace 4 screws to hold new handle in
4-put 2 screws back in at edge of door
5-program code.

That's it! Mine fit perfectly but I did read on the reviews some people may have to adjust the strike plate on their unit if it does not line up correctly.

I think you will be quite pleased with your new lock. I have the same lockset on our 2013 Alpine. It has proven very reliable and durable.

I have a few suggestions based on my experience:

Only the deadbolt is controlled by the combo. If the upper lock is used, you will still need a key to enter. I cut a circle of black electrical tape to cover the upper cylinder so that it is not accidently used.

The 4 double-a batteries will not survive the winter cold. I take them out at the end of camping season to prevent problems. Also keep a spare key in your TV in case of battery failure.

I like to keep electronic manuals on my laptop for quick reference. You will find one here.

Pull Toy, thanks for those suggestions. Fortunately I have two doors so I always have spare keys just incase. The electronic manual is a great idea too. Thanks for sharing.

I've had one for a couple years...

When I saw review of them in a RV mag I just had to have one. The day it came I ran right out to the trailer and installed it... It was the Cat's meow, or so I thought! Seems like not everyone has the same conductivity in their fingers, you guested it, my wife doesn't. It won't work at all for her and boy does she get aggravated at it. It opens most of the time for me, but if my hands are wet or cold it's a no go...

You'd better hide a key somewhere so you'll be able to get in when it decides not to work. In fact, it eats batteries, I go through a couple sets a year (more when its cold out). It's real pain to replace them, they keep falling out as I try to put the cover on and screws in. Speaking of screws, one day while swapping out the batteries the wind caught the door and... Well, it took me the better part of the morning to find the little suckers in all that crushed stone. You won't be finding them at Hone Depot either. Now I put down a drop cloth when its battery changing time. But it sure looks nice on rig, kind of high tech, don't you think?

Thanks for the ideas! The factory lock on my trailer was giving me a hard time, that is mainly why I wanted to replace it. I maintained it with graphite regularly. Half of the time I could not get my key in the little slot unless I gave it a few good hits with my fist or palm. It was happening on both the deadbolt and the other lock. After I installed this, I tried both the electronic keypad and the key. Well, even if I end up with issues with the buttons, the key works a lot better and feels like it is better quality. It does not seem like I will have to whack this one to get the key in!

Hope you like it... they look great.

My Cougar came with one but I took the batteries out during the PDI and never replaced them.

The newer version has "Captive screws". Contact the Bauer website for availability, and price.

I noticed something about this lock yesterday. I was washing the camper and when the water was hitting the lock, I could hear beeping. It sensed the water tapping against it as if it were fingers. It still works fine but I wonder if this is why it 'eats batteries." Every time it rains it must be powered up the whole time. I wonder if I should put a little flap of rubber or other material to keep it dry during rain.

other than this I am still loving this new handle.

Update on this lock.

The powered deadbolt seems to get stuck inside. It feels as if it snags on something internally and it wont slide back and forth unless I manually turn the handle a couple of times before using it. I consulted the manual and used the troubleshooting guide. Nothing described the issue I was having so I called the phone number it said to call for "additional questions."

The rep I spoke to said that I should try Energizer batteries instead of the Duracell I have installed because they have a bit more force. I told her that it is difficult to use even when I am using my hand to rotate the deadbolt. I said it feels as if it needs to be lubricated inside but she stated it is not designed to be lubricated and it shouldn't. Since it was out of warranty she offered to sell me a refurbished unit for (approx.) 150.00. I declined her offer. The lock still works well with the key but not the electronic aspect of it sadly.

I have been using the Bauer keyless lock for the last 8 years and this is what I have learned about them:
* the original locks had a plastic case and if the mount screws were too tight, it would create drag on the plungers. New versions are aluminum and do not have the issue.
* Lithium AA batteries work well with these locks
* they require a dry key lock lubricant once a season
* if purchased directly from Bauer, you can have the keys matched to the key used on other locks on your rig.

BTW: This remains our favorite mod.

My 2020 29rks has a vertical handle. All I have found is handles to replace a horizontal handle. Has anyone see any keyless handles to replace a vertical handle?
