Atwood Propane / Gas Detector not Detecting!

Backed into the buttons on the propane stove top, which in turn filled the rv with a thick putrid smell of propane. Totally unbearable.... yet the Atwood Propane/Gas detector did not detect a problem.

It was replaced about 3-ish years ago and the light is bright green and the test button works properly.

Any thoughts???

Holy Batwings!! Thankfully nothing else happened.

If it operated properly with the test button not sure how to test if for functionality. I have read that you can use an aerosol like hair spray to activate it to see if it really works.

My Atwood in my last trailer malfunctioned long before the expiration date but it just chirped all time. The Safe-T-Alert in this one failed about 18 mos. so I've not had good luck with them lasting their advertised lifetimes. If you replaced it 3ish years ago it may have failed. Others may have some other ideas but if DW had some hair spray I think I'd give it a "sniff".

Gas sensors can get saturated with the gas they are supposed to detect or get polluted with another constituent. I wouldn’t trust it knowing what you know.
