Pushing Slide out w/ no batteries

I have removed my batteries for winter storage of our RV. I need to push a slide out to get to a ceiling vent. Is it safe to power the slide from my trucks power if I make sure the battery disconnect wires are secured away from each other? Will this work or will I need to put at least one battery back in place? Thank you

The charge line from your truck isn’t very heavy gauge and low amps. Slide motors can draw a lot especially at the start of movement. If you have a charged battery you can take along and hook up, I would.

If you're talking about running the slides off the truck 7 way plug I wouldn't do it. The issue is the small wire size that connects the power from the truck battery to the 7 way plug. I've done this in the past by using jumper cables from the truck battery to the battery cable on the trailer. For me it was easy, travel trailer with battery on the tongue.

If you are going to do this, use a good set of jumper cables and leave the motor running until done.

Personally I see no need at all to remove RV batteries if you have access to a house outside 15 amp outlet... I have left the batteries in the RVs Ive owned for the last 45 years...

Trying to use the trucks 7 way to operate the slide outs will just cause issues to the wiring on the truck 7 way and the slide out motors .. if electric aren't gonna like it either...

take a battery and install it... you will have less issues... Trying to use cables from your truck battery with it running and connected to the RV battery cables may work but thats a lot of extra cable length and your voltage drop may may result in issues...

Then again it may not... but I wont do it that way

Thanks all for the replies. I did end up taking a battery and hooking it up. Unfortunately, I don't have my camper at my house, but at storage. I was able to accomplish what I needed.
