Residential faucet

Replaced the bathroom faucet with a Moen residential unit. The OE faucet outlet was so close to the sink edge, you could barely wash hands. All connections were the same. 20 minutes start to finish.

I like it. I also replaced my bathroom and kitchen faucets with residential ones. More for aesthetics and quality, though. I like how easily they’re interchangeable.

Question

Nice work and I think I will do that too, at least to the bathroom sinks, the kitchen has a nice faucet. Question, do you think I could replace the crappy plastic 2 knob shower faucet with a single lever style with out replacing the plastic wall material?

Check the package on some of the single lever shower controls. They usually come with a couple of different backing plates that are specifically designed to cover the older two and even three knob shower faucets. If they have the covers, it should list them on the package.

The snag I see with the shower faucet is that I need the diverter so I can fill my tub.

Moen makes a few that will have a tub and shower valve. The issue I see is where the current facuet is located and having enough room behind the panel about three inches to fit the one handle valve.

In mine we have the older two handle with tub spot but its located on the edge of tub so location location location....oh well.

Sorry to high jack the thread, I did not consider the location of the valve... We only really use the shower (kids like to stop up the tub but not actually take a bath) so that would not be an issue. I'll have to look behind the wall.

Wife saw the pics and decided ours need changed too. She hated hearing them squee when turning on and off. But she didn't stop in the bathroom. I changed the bath basin and kitchen sink to Phisters on sale at Lowes. The shower to an Oxygenics from Camping World. I have to say I like the change too. And they all help to save hot water because of the single handle.
I'll post pics once I get off this junk iPad and on my computer.

Im Back with the pics!n sink
I have to tell you... this was a very easy upgrade. Took about 25 minutes in the kitchen sink and 30 minutes in the bath because I had to drill one more hole.

I replaced both of mine for decent low-price faucets from OSH. I almost feel guilty about having nice faucets in my TT. The stock ones were shameful. I’ve had to *really* tighten up my bathroom connections to stop any dripping. I think I’ve got it taken care of now.

richf28, Howdy;

Why did you have to drill an extra hole...?

I’m guessing the extra hole would be in the middle. I think the standard installation only had two side holes for H and C, but nothing in the middle.

That is correct. No center hole.

As another data point, the kitchen sink already had three holes, so when we installed our single-handle kitchen faucet, we were set. Even better that we opted for a sprayer that goes where the cold water knob was. Richf28’s kitchen faucet looks nicer, but I cheaped out.
