Installed a drawer under the sofa

I decided to add a drawer under our sofa bed. It is just an open space closed in by a board that is held in place with velcro.

I built the drawer out of 3/4" oak plywood that I had left over from another project. I used furniture glides on the bottom to let it slide easily over the carpet.

Then I attached the sofa front to the drawer.

I used heavy duty magnetic drawer clasps to hold it in place.

This will help make up for the lack of pantry space in our model.

Looks very good, THedges. My bottom panel was screwed to two steel angles, one on each side. I removed them, got a piece of piano hinge and refastened the panel on the upper side, now the panel opens upward and we use the area to store brooms vaccuums, etc.

I like your idea better and may build something similar once things slow down.

Thanks for the photos and the idea.

THedges, Thanks for the photos. This will make up for the storage I lost when I removed the benches from the booth. Nice job, Hank

DARN IT! I have the old style "try to sleep on metal bars and springs" type of couch. The front raps around each side about 6" and looks like a major project to gain very little storage on this couch.

Drawer

Nice job. Interesting though, my 318SAB came with a drawer like that.
