Propane regulator question

Is is possible to disconnect one propane bottle from a regulator such as this one so it can be used for a grill or outside camp stove? Had a "lapse" in memory our last trip and forgot the 20 lb. bottle we usually carry for the grill and had to go back home (fortunately a short trip) to get it. If it works fine, it will just be one less thing to remember for the next trip.

Just turn the valve to the tank that you are leaving there and remove the one for the grill, same process for exchanging empty tank and leaving full in place.
