Drain Valve Lube

What product should I use to lubricate a gate/drain valve on my camper? Currently it is hard to open and hard to close.

I drilled 1/8" holes at the top of the valve and then can stick a dry lube (silicon) spray nozzle straw in the hole and lube. When finished. I use a small sheet metal screw to fill the hole which can be removed later for later access.
