What??? Now I just heard "from the top" on TV that we ain't got no high gas prices, there ain't no shortages (although many of the shelves are bare and we can't get the brands we always have), our new energy policies have dropped gas prices by 12 cents??, and if we just give up fossil fuels we will all be running on plum drops and fairy dust!! For grins -

Death Valley is in California right? I really really don't understand how people tolerate those prices and not take revenge at the ballot box. I paid $2.99 for my last fillup of diesel.
I guess they are different people than my people. Maybe they like it.

I believe that fuel prices in Furnace Creek CA. in Death Valley are always on the high side. Kind of a tourist place as well I think.

I wish! We are the middle of the left coast looking at about $3.90 a gallon gas or diesel.

But double the price?? Is that the only station?
Glad I didn't move to CA back in the 70's.
One of my co-workers moved to Houston from Connecticut in the late 60's. I told him I heard it was pretty up there. He replied yeah but you can't eat pretty.

Use google maps and look at a sat image of the town. I think the permanent population is 24 or thereabouts.

I paid $3.33 for diesel in Bainbridge, Georgia today. 87 octane was $2.95. This was for my personal truck, not the semi.

Can't help but think of the movie "Used Cars" with Kurt Russel when they broke into President's speech and did the car commercial. "That's tooooooooo _____ing high!"

Yeah they have a golf course and a airport, apparently for the gas station owner to land his private jet.
What's really going here?

The lowest here for diesel is 2.99 and most stations are 3.20. I would rather be paying more and enjoy the sunshine in FL. We will be heading to Alabama in February and expect it will be more.

A lot of people don't mind the fuel cost in this state. I have been paying 4.60 a gallon. Every time I leave the Socialist Republic of California for vacations, the gas prices drop about a dollar. To many entitled voters that don't mind paying taxes in this state. Were out numbered. Cant fix stupid. I would be gone if a could.

Is that why it's called Death Valley? Folks go to fuel up, see the price and drop dead? Experienced similar high ptives in Wyoming years ago. Can't remember the name of the town but there was one station and price was $1/gal higher. I did a search on the GPS for "next gas station" (this was 2006) and it found one 230 miles away. So I figured they were paying more as they likely were the only destination on the delivery truck route and what can you do but pay the price?

That is also why I got an auxiliary fuel tank so I can fill up at fair price and not get ripped off.

There are four gas stations in our entire county. Price has a lot more to do with "if you don't like it take your trade elsewhere" than anything else. Same for those folks who enter Death Valley with 1/2 tank of gas I suppose. Not to mention who wants to haul gas into a place where it's a 125 in the summer?
