Honda eu2000i separate on/off switch
I had a eu1000i for many years and now a eu2000i for 2 years, the thing I did/do not like is one can not run the carb dry. So I added a separate run switch to the eu1000i and today to the eu2000i. The 2000 was much easier, as I was able to reach is and cut the two wires between the fuel/run switch and plug, and extend them to the new switch without taking the case apart. The switch I got at Ace Hardware is advertised at having an O-ring to keep moisture out.
BTW the switch closes to stop the generator, so I could not use the little on/off tab, as it was reversed for this application. Chris

Would not a inline on/off lever on the fuel line above the carb work? I did not realize the Hondas do not have that feature, heck all the honda motorcycles I had had a lever like that. The Yamaha genny I own has a rotating switch on the outside that shuts off the fuel supply to run the carb dry. I just used that switch yesterday to shut the fuel off and maintain the gas tank full of fuel til a hunt trip in 2 weeks.

Honda on/off nob turns off the fuel and ignition at the same time!!!! You can turn the fuel off, however the motor stops also. I understand that Honda now has a new switch that has three positions allowing one to run the carb dry. Also Hutch Mountain has a plug and play switch, that you just have to drill a hole, mount the switch and plug it in. Cost is 4x of what my cost was.

I just open the drain on the carb bowl, hold a cup under the hose to keep from making a mess.

just curious on why you do this?
if you put stabilizer in it should be fine, I've never had a problem with the gen sitting there for months. Or I just run the gen dry when leaving it for a long period.

Because riding in the back of the truck it tends to spill a bit of gas out of the carb bowel vent. And in storage in the man cave it smells of gasoline.

Seems like these smaller engines that are carbed and left with fuel in it gum/plug up the jests really easy. I believe having the carb drained before storage is a must. Best to drain, but running the fuel out works. Even though I do that on my 9.9 outboard, use stabilizer in the fuel, most fuel is non ethanol it still needed to rebuild the carb 2 times in the last 10 years.
