Satellite cable length

I have a Winegard pathway x2 And I have to put a 100’ cable on it to get away from trees. After reading manual it says 50’ is max. Anyone else have any luck with this ? I’m having trouble getting satellites

Have you tried setting it on the roof of your RV? I have done that a few times to clear obstructions.

Is the cable you are using a good quality RG6 coax? If you bought 100 feet of RG59 it ain’t gonna work.. RG6 is ten times better...

I run 100 feet on my portable DTV antenna with no issues but I am using RG6.

It is recommended to use 50ft with the Wally and 211s. You may try the Eastern Arc satellites if you can't get the Western Arc satellites, they are higher in elevation. As stated above you should only use RG56 cable.

Im sure you meant RG6, RG56 is the other common coax for the antenna/ park cable coax.

Yes, RG6 not RG56. RG56 is 50 ohm and used for HAM radio. Thanks for pointing that out.

Any luck with getting your portable antenna to work with the longer coax run?

Here is a quick ref chart for dB loss per 100 feet of coax... one the huge dB loss in RG59 versus RG6 cable at 1000mhz... I believe typical LNB output from DTV dish is around 1.5G so the loss at 150 feet for RG59 would be huge and not allow the DC signal to carry to drive the servo motors reliably on the dish...

Thats cool!! I thought about it, just never acted on it. I was a big CB'r in the late 70's. Had a cobra mounted on my highway bars on my Suzuki T500, short whip on the sissy bar. Had to stop and shut it off to hear anything
