This Winter's Weather

The Farmer's Almanac doesn't always get it right, but its what we have. Doesn't look great for snowbirds. I was hoping to spend a little time in the Tucson area this winter with the trailer and the local, Sonoran-style comida, but maybe not.

Same here along the Wasatch. Headed out to the San Juan's in SW Colorado for some fall color shooting. Expecting 30 degrees and a chance of snow Sunday when we arrive in Marble. Hoping the "Polar Package" lives up to it's name
LP tanks are full and longjohns are packed

Two feet at Crater Lake. Hopefully the snow will help the fire fighters knock down all of the fires around here, we have had "unhealthy air" (and worse) since about the middle of August.

Caltrans reports Tioga, Ebbetts and Sonora passes are closed. Mt Rose Hwy to Incline Village and Kingsbury Grade to South Shore had chain controls. Got down to 38F overnight at the Reno Air Races last weekend. Ran the bedroom pellet stove yesterday morning at home.

Climate change...

Sure not looking like winter here though the leaves are turning and some coming down. Kinda makes you want to hitch and go. Wait, we are - at least going to the Lake Champlain seasonal site tomorrow and hope to pull to Gettysburg in 3-4 weeks. We had some chilly weather (mid 30s) in NH and Maine a couple weeks ago and ran the furnace most nights. But then it warmed up and is still mild. Bot the Farmer's Almanac and the Old Farmers Almanac are predicting cold, wet/snowy and dreary weather but IIRC, neither have been right for my area lately:

Tonight

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 53. North wind 3 to 7 mph.

Mostly Clear

Low: 53 °F

Saturday

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 83. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

We picked up a fair dusting within a couple hundred feet. This morning we had 26*...
The thought is early and heavy again this year. Quite a few indicators.

Here in Western Wisconsin we broke the record high 94 Degrees yesterday and low of 72 Degrees last night. Winter will come when it wants.
