Generator w/TT

I have a Honda 2000 generator. I am buying a Keystone 23RB. I know my generator won't run most of the stuff on my new camper, but should I buy another 2000 and hook it in parallel or buy a Honda 3000 (with electric start)?

I have a 15K AC in my new camper.

Any advice will be appreciated. I would prefer to carry only one genny, the 3000. Will that be adequate?

I'd buy the pairing mate for your original 2000 . . . . if anything you sometimes may only need one for dry camp trips in certain weather conditions, second reason they weigh less each, third total run wattage of both together is 3600 (4000 surge)

Since you have the one I think I'd go for the 2nd and just run them together; more output and less weight each.

An added advantage is "if" you don't need the A/C you can only run one for most of your trailer needs at a much quieter rate. I just bought two SmarterTools for my 5th Wheel to do just that.

All depends on the temp, though....

At 58 I have been around camp gennys most of my life. I have had 4 now. I will never have another genny that takes 2 people to move in/out of a truck bed. The 2000s are a great size, not much noise. My opinion a single 3000 may work a A/C. My last genny was a 3600 and it would not run well with outside temps over 100 and running the A/C on high. low speed it was OK but, the A/C needed to be on high to cool down the unit. That one was fueled by propane and the high elevation may have also been a problem as how it ran.

I agree with the others, get a second genny to parallel your 2000. And if possible, get another stand alone genny and then get the parallel kit as opposed to a "Companion" 2000. That way when you need only one, or if one is in for service, you have the same capabilities of the 2000 available for your use. Those 3000 series are bulky and a bear to lift by one person!

Pretty sure that you NEED the companion model for the 30Amp plug. No 15Amp plug is gonna run any a/c unit.

Reliance makes a set of parallel cables called the Sidewinder that works with 2 Honda or Yamaha 2000i generators and provides a 30 amp plug. No need for the Companion.
