Need advice on a ram 3500 dually
I'm looking to purchase a new 14 ram 3500 cc DRW with the 6.7 and Aisin trans and 410 in the rear. I'm looking to see if any of you guys are running this truck to tow your rigs. And looking to see what problems may be accruing with the 6.7 and Aisin. If not how do you like the truck would you change anything. i have a 04 f250 with the 6.0 i just can't take it anymore to many issues with this truck. I tow a 07 Montana 3500 rl and looking to get a used Teton soon. Thank you.

That little 6 cylinder will out pull anything out there. (Just my opinion, don't want to start a diesel war ) The Ram may not ride as nice as the Fords or GMs but the Cummins is the engine to beat. AGAIN JM2¢, Hank

Can't go wrong with a Cummins. Also if your into cool truck sounds it definitely sounds the most truck like. Although I do like the quiet of my duramax, at times it's hard to know its a diesel.
I wish I had an air horn....

You can fix that with $15. http://www.harborfreight.com/12-volt...orn-40134.html
Even if it only works for a few months, it'll keep you smiling till camping season is over

Own a 2014 3500 6.7 cummins crew cab but have the 68fe transmission.
I am pulling a Sprinter 266 with it, which is really a joke for the truck. I have no issues with, great milage towing, around 14 to 15mpg and 18 to 20mpg not towing.
I have less then 4000 miles on it, at this point I am still in the honey moon phase so nothing negative.

I'm a die hard Cummins man, on my third one and all my trucks in the past have gone past 100k with no issues and are still on the road today. The Asin is suppose to be a great transmission and the 4.10 gears are great for towing.
My advice since your truck is stock, do not let it idle for prolonged amounts of time, you will clog the DPF and cause active regenerations more often. Also run the exhaust brake as often as possible, it helps reduce soot build up on the back side of the compressor wheel.
I invite you to give the Cummins Forum a looksy when you have free time, swell bunch of guys on there and more info about your truck and drive train then you'll ever need to know. Enjoy your new truck

Ditto. I'm on my second Cummins and approaching 300,000 miles between the two trucks and seeing 20-21 MPG (hand calculated) when not towing with the present truck.
Can't comment on the new autos. Had a 47RH auto on the '94, which needed a rebuild at 98,000. I replaced it with a Suncoast built version and eliminated the typical problems. Current truck has a 6-speed stick, which for me, somehow seems to be a perfect match for the Cummins.
You won't regret going Mopar with a Cummins.

Need advice on a ram 3500 dually
I have a 2013 Ram Crew Cab 2500 with the 6.7 cummins and 3.42 gears and I tow a 2013 Raptor 395 lev that's over 16k pounds loaded, no problems at all. The truck rides smooth and the mpg's are around 14 towing and 20 not towing. I'm not gonna bad mouth the other trucks, but the Ram is amazing. Like they say "Guts,Glory,Ram"

I am on my 3rd cummins and the new 3500 is a thing of beauty over 2000 miles towing and have to look in the mirror to see if 5er is still there.

I am looking into replacing my current TV and have looked at the Ram. The one thing that scares me is the Fiat electronics. Seems to be more than usual computer/electronic problems. After all these years is seems they are still having ball joint issues on the 4wd trucks.

I think most of the ball joint issues are with guys putting larger tires or lift kits. I'm on my 3rd Ram diesel and have always just ran the stock tire size and thus far have not had any ball joint issues. Just my .02

My son has a new 3500 (2013) with the Aisin and 3.73.
It has been trouble free for the 80K km it has on it now. Normal sevicing only.
He pulls a 42' triaxle 5th wheel for and RV and it runs almost identical fuel mileage to my pre emission 2004 Ram (loaded or unloaded).
The transmission is very robust and has a 285000km warranty.
He traded a 2011 3500 Dmax Denali DRW on it.........couldn't get used to V8 characteristics....
We have 8 dodge DRW in our ERS fleet and if we have to work under the hood it will only be on a Cummins(that you can actually see and access)
Don't get me wrong....the Dmax was decent and did nothing really wrong, just different. As for the ones you must remove the cab on to access.........well..........never, regardless of the brand.

I'm running a 13 3500 with the cummins/Aisin and 4.10. Have about 16000 miles, of which about 5000 are towing the Fuzion.
I have had no issues with the truck yet, runs flawlessly and hasn't been back to dealer for anything but complimentary oil changes.
I get about 14-15 empty around town. On the highway, empty, I can get about 18-19 if I stay under 65. Drops to 16-18 above 65.
Towing I get between 8-10 depending on terrain and wind. It tows like a beast. I scale at 17300 5vr, 9900 truck for a total of 27200, with 3600 on the pin. Tows the Fuzion effortlessly, went through the mountains of NC last month, never missed a beat up the hills. Flatlands set the cruise at 65, never hunts for gears.
I got the 4.10 knowing I would suffer in fuel mileage, but it is worth the trade off to get the highest towing rating for margin of safety. It will definitely get up and go with those gears though.
Hope that helps.
