I recall local news stories in the Balt-Wash. are 20+ years ago. Perhapsbit happened "somewhere" but I'd think it would be isolated. Urban legends have a way of "being verified" over time. Even the big oil companies bought into the cell phone ignighting cars during refueling myth and posted signs not to use them at the pump.

I wish they'd make the NO SMOKING WHILE FUELING signs about billboard size for all those dumba##'s that stick the nozzle in then fire up a smoke with me at the next pump!!!!! That's not an urban legend, gasoline WILL explode! The cell phone doesn't bother me!
DW don't like me telling them not to smoke there, she's afraid someone will shoot us..............instead of blowing us up.

I while ago DW and I were driving back home, from our trailer, on US 23 in Eastern MI. One stretch that we drive is single lane both ways. Had a guy behind me that was in a big hurry and had the patience of a hornet. We got to a passing lane stretch of the road and he flew by me like the wicked witch of the east from the Wizard of Oz, showing us his "Bird" he had in his car, then disappeared up the road rather quickly. I told the DW, I hope he ( used another term) gets pulled over....Coming around a bend 5 mins later, we could see the flashing lights we all never want to see in our rear view mirror.. I said, Oh I hope it is that dude ( again another term was used) that blew past us. Oh how sweet it is, he got what he deserved..Wanted to honk the horn and wave, but thinking the State trooper might not like that!!!! Now i just say that to ever one....
