2013 Ford F150 Platinum w/ 2015 Keystone Passport 2200rb

Hello,

Last month, I purchased a 2015 Keystone Passport Ultra-Lite 2200rb. At that time, I had a 2008 Ford F350. In that truck, I had installed the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller (rather than using the stock Ford controller). Everything worked great.

On Friday, I traded in my 2008 F350, and picked up a 2013 Ford F150 Platinum with EcoBoost.

The stock brake controller on the 2013 F150 does not seem to be working with the TT. All of the lights and signals work, but the brake controller kept saying that the Trailer was disconnected.

Seems strange to me that a brand new TT would be having issues with a brake controller that would only be one year old.

Had anyone else experienced the same issue? Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Try cleaning the contact points on both the truck and the trailer. I can't remember which is which, but one uses a Bargman and one uses a different brand. The contacts aren't quite the same and sometimes don't match up properly. I had that issue with my 2010 F150. I cleaned the contacts, used some good silicone electrical paste (di-electric) and all was good.

I kept getting a "trailer disconnected" message or a "Trailer wiring fault" on the truck status panel.

I had the same problem. Look in your glove box and you will find a breaker and a fuse, Even though mine13 has the tow package ford does not install the breaker and fuse. My 12 is a year old so I do not remember the 2 empty slots they go in One is for 12v charging from tv the other powers the brake controller BTW my controller works great

The relay goes into slot #9 in the main under hood fuse box . The fuse, 30-amp goes into slot 21. I am pretty sure this is correct That is where mine went 2013 supercrew 5.0 v8 factory tow

Both of those items in the bag are for the 12vdc charging. Neither one has to do with the brake controller.

This is correct. (My factory brake controller works perfectly in my F-150.)

I would have the dealer take a look, if you can't find a quick remedy.

Well, I finally had the chance to try a few things...and the first thing I tried was slapping some Dielectric grease on the receiver and plug, and BINGO! Brakes worked right away. Was able to adjust the gain and manually apply the brakes, and the Ford told me the trailer was connected and all was well.

Thanks everyone for the advise!

Dielectric Grease, FTW (For the Win!)

Dielectric grease will also keep your contacts from corroding. Good stuff!

You may still want to install the relay and fuse that are in the glove box. This enables the charging of your RV batery while hooked to the truck.
