Wiring Advise

Own a '16 287QBS. Thinking of replacing the jackknife couch w a pair of electric recliners. The couch sits in the slide. There are 2 overhead lights and a wall light between the couch and dinette in the slide. Has any one added an outlet on the slide wall by tapping into the wall light power? If so, how difficult?

The lighting is 12v, not 110v.

The lights will be 12 volt the recliners will be 120 volt, so no that wouldn't work.

We have a sconce wall lamp in the middle of our slide and two globe lamps on the ceiling; one over our kitchen table and one over the recliners. The sconce lamp is 12V but the other two are 117V AC. Go figure. The bulbs in the AC fixtures look like 1156 tail light bulbs but both "ears" are at the same lower level. Go figure.

I think Keystone will outfit trailers with stuff they buy in bulk at a discount and I wouldn't count on every trailer of the same year, make and model with the same light fixtures. We do have all incandescent lights in the trailer (2002 before LED took over).

Thanks all for reminding about the 12v wiring. On to plan B.

Factory 110V in slides outside luxury models isn't impossible, but is reasonably uncommon. It's easy to route 12V wires into a moving box -- 110V, much trickier.

I have to say, the Thomas Paine two-seat theatre recliner that came in my rig is quite responsive to manual operation. Maybe you should have a test-sit at CW or wherever -- you might decide to save money, weight, and effort.

Plan B - manual recliners from CW. Will try them out this weekend.

Our 2021 Cougar 26RBS has a 120vac outlet in the slider to support our dual theater recliner seats... They have manual recline, but have heat, massage, and led lights that are 120vac. I imagine they have manual recline so you don't have to be hooked up to shore power to use that feature.
