What is this wire?

I have a new to me 2019 Passport 2520RL that I bought from the original owner two weeks ago. It was a good transaction and the guy and his wife seemed to be very honest and open about the TT. I found this disconnected wire on the battery and the PO does not know anything about it, and I believe him. The wire has pulled out of the yellow connector at the bottom of the positive terminal. It has a 10amp inline fuse. I can't find anything on the TT that is not working. Anyone have any ideas what this might be for? I'm tempted to reconnect it and see.

Probably the charge line for solar.

That's a good thought. I can stick an ohm meter on that line to find out.

Looks like the solar connection was an after thought.

Factory will usually install a portable solar plug on the side of the trailer and run those wires to the battery.

I notice it appears you have a black wire connected to the positive post on the battery. My question is Where is that going? I don’t have a passport, but I have two red and two black wires connected to my battery but the two black are going to the negative terminal and two red to positive terminal.

Depending on year, positive can be black or red and negative can be black or white. I’ve seen both.

I'm an Electrical Engineer and I find it frustrating that Black is not always ground. In house wiring Black is hot and White is ground. Go figure...

That's the positive lead for the motorized hitch/jack. They should have made it red, but they made it black.

The trailer isn't a house and I'm guessing that in the past Keystone wired the battery that way thinking the owner would recognize white as ground (in some people's thinking instead of neutral) and would recognize the color code from their home wiring. That's a guess, and I'd "guess" the person that made that decision didn't think thru that maybe the owner has looked at the battery cables in their truck. In any event, yes it caused and still causes a lot of confusion and blown polarity fuses.

Just another example of how important it is to take a moment and look things over before tearing it apart. With every cell phone having a camera these days it's so easy to just take a "before" picture and referencing it upon reassembly.
