Flood light won’t turn off.

My wife noticed today that the flood light at the front of our 2010 Cougar 26SAB was on. She doesn’t think she turned it on and I know I didn’t...but it will not shut off! I flicked the switch on and off a number of times, but it remains on. I currently have the 5vr parked with the battery disconnected. Has anyone had a similar problem? I assume it is a faulty switch? We have a mouse abatement claim in now, so rodent damage has also crossed my mind. However the mice have been gone for a while and this just occurred.
Thanks, Greg.

Not exactly sure what a flood light is on a camper but generally all the outside lights as 12V and if the battery is disconnected, well confused.

There is an amber “porch” light near the door, and this white “flood” light at the nose of the trailer. It only went out when I disconnected the battery.

That makes more sense; never heard that light called a "flood light" but have no idea what the official name would be. I am thinking you had best check your switch which will be located next to the orange door light and perhaps a rear "flood light" I think my camper may have on fore and aft. If the other switches work as they should with the battery connected, pretty much would have to be the switch.

First, the light "uses electricity to illuminate", so if the battery is disconnected, is the trailer plugged into shore power??? The converter will provide power to the light if plugged into shore power. So, that's your "mystery of why it's on and the battery is disconnected.

Now, as to why it won't turn off... Chances are someone turned it on with the remote. Possibly by "butt dialing it"... If turned on with the remote, it will only turn off with the remote.

Ahh! I may have turned it on accidentally with the remote. The battery in the remote is on it’s last legs and Kept shutting off, also the lcd display was difficult to read. I did not realize that it could only be shut off with the remote. Thanks John!

The remote system in those years has a safety interlock to protect the trailer systems. If there was no "safety interlock" should you be extending the slide, raising the landing gear, extending the awning with the remote and "someone" (anyone) inside the trailer should press any of the switches for those items to retract or lower then (opposite to the direction you're using on the remote), then you'd have two inputs in opposite directions on a motor and risk destroying it. So, Lippert, in their "wisdom" built in a "system disconnect" for each of the channels on the remote. Any time you're using the remote to activate anything, all the manual switches for that function are disabled until the remote cancels the action....

You're not the first to get "caught by this condition" and I promise you, you won't be the last.... Log it away for "next time it happens" LOL

Good to know. Half of the bottom seal on the main slide had folded over the wrong way, so I was under the trailer with the remote, inching it in until it was just touching the seal. I was able then to get my fingers in there and flip the seal down into place, and then close the slide completely. Hopefully the seal will re-shape itself and stay oriented. That is likely when I turned the light on?
Thanks again, Greg.

I don't know for sure, but seems like I saw a couple of 2009's with remote capability. The OP just stated he was under his slide, trying to flip a seal, using the remote to line things up. So, remotes go back at least to 2010...

I guess this is why I always called it the flood light. The light went out once all power was shut off. It did not come back on when the battery was re-connected, so interrupting the power canceled the remote command.
