Tongue Jack Rotation

Re 251RBSWE . For some time I've been frustrated that I can't drop my tailgate when the trailer is attached because it hits the motor housing on the tongue jack. Real pain if I've forgotten to load something in the bed. However, it appears that if I rotate the jack and housing 90 degrees, the tailgate can open. Has anybody done this, or see a problem other than losing the light shining on the hitch?

Rotating the jack will not have any negative affect.

I have done it as well. There may be some older threads here or you can look on youtube to go over how it is done.

Our trailer came with a manual jack and the tailgate would hit it if we opened while connected. When we bought a power jack, the unit we selected promoted it’s ability to be mounted forward facing or to either side. We mounted it sideways and can open the tailgate while connected.

I did it, the holes were there but weren't threaded. I have taps so I just needed to run threads in the holes. It was a real easy project, the hardest part was removing the LPG bottles because they were in the way to tap the threads.
