Noise level on a dometic 2852 refrigerator

How loud should fans make on a dometic 2852 refrigerator when they come on.
I have a 2019 Keystone Cougar 5th wheel 30rls, when the fans come on they are very loud. The refrigerator is in a slide out. There are two vent on the outside of the slide for the refrigerator upper and lower the upper vent area has plyboard covering the vent almost 3/4 of way of the vent. Is this normal, I would thinks not. Any ideas?

The plywood box that partially covers the top vent is VITAL. Don't remove or modify it. The purpose is to increase the velocity of thermal movement of air, increasing the removal if heat from behind the refrigerator. It's designed that way for a purpose.... The box and vent "restrictor" are vital to maintaining maximum thermal convection air movement behind the refrigerator.

As for the fans, essentially they are "computer pancake fans" and readily collect dust and dirt which makes the fan blades get off balance and vibrate. You should be able to access the fans from the lower vent. Clean them or, if you can, remove them and do a good job of cleaning the blades. That "should" quiet them enough to make them tolerable.

On most Dometic refrigerators, there is a "in-line thermistor" in the power supply line to the fans. If it's working properly, the fans will only come on when the temperature behind the refrigerator is about 95F or higher and they should turn off around 85F. If they are running below about 85F or if they don't turn off when it cools down in the evening, you may have a bad thermistor.

Our current refrigerator is not in a slide and we do not have fans. On the last one we had with fans, I added a toggle switch to the fan power line (red wire from the control board on the right side that goes up into the cooling coils) and turned the fans off unless the air temperature was above 90F. While it "may not be the most efficient way to operate the refrigerator" it did make sleeping a lot nicer..... YMMV
