Outside speakers

I have a 2016 cougar 303rls my outside speakers have a ghost in them they work intermittent today I pulled the speakers off homed the wires they appear to be ok but my question is is there a junction somewhere other then behind the radio? There was water in the bottom of one and I dried that up and sealed them up.i have tried different speakers and different channel on the back of the radio.no fix there either. Any help?

I had a similar issue with the outdoor speakers on our '15 Cougar, dealer replaced the radio to fix it.

Outside speakers

After all the tear down yesterday and they started working. We will see for how long as the coach is out of warranty I will probably replace radio if happens again with a better one I’m thinking. Thanks for advise

I have a 2016 24SAB, and the outside speakers don’t work at all. It’s button C on the control panel. In fact only button A works, that being the main speakers in the camper. Not sure what button B is supposed to be for, but if I crank it up to max I just get some static. So, no idea what the problem is. Maybe I’ve just got a failed control unit. Any ideas?

the Cougar had A, B & C, A was the living area speakers, B the bedroom and C the outside

Had the same issue, outside "C" initially worked then became intermittent and then worked only after about an hour of warm up. Dealer replaced the radio.

Same here...dealer replaced the radio under warranty due to the Channel "C" amplifier not working. He said it was a common problem and it happened all the time. The new unit has worked flawlessly for 6 months or so.

It may be the radio unit, but, if you haven't, pull down the speakers (or some of them) and pull the head out of its enclosure. The way they daisy chained mine made NO sense, but there might be a hi joint or something else in the way they put it together. Mine didn't work correctly, and still doesn't. I'm sure my issue is the wiring. My problems with it aren't bad enough to try to pull all the speakers and rewire from the head unit - I can get by like it is.

Our Cougar has 4 speakers in the living/kitchen area wired to the B selector. 2 speakers outside wired to the A selector and 2 in the bedroom wired to the C selector.
I have had the compartment open under the radio head and cleaned up some of the wiring there. Very sloppy work and some connections were questionable so I corrected those while I had the access open. I wouldn't expect to find a splice between the radio connections and the speakers. If you have a tone generator, you could put a tone through the wiring from the radio connections. If you hear it at the speakers then it's likely the radio head. From what I found, I'd suspect the connectors at the back of the radio.

The easiest way to troubleshoot, at least what I did, was to clip the "c" wires and the "A" wires and swap them. MY outside speakers began to work and the inside not so much....bingo, bad radio.

Radios are crap and expensive. If you're handy you could take the B output and run it through a DPDT switch and connect the B and C speaker wires to that switch. Then just toggle between the two.
Here's a crude pic of what I mean.
