dual 6V - parallel or series
I'm an admitted noob when it comes to electrical and with three previous trailers having a single battery, I'll just ask these three questions straight up.
#1: When dry camping with dual 6V batteries and having power for the longest time before the capacity drops to 70-80% and it's time to re-charge with the generator, should they be hooked up in parallel or series?
#2: Will my TT converter charger work correctly with either a parallel or series hookup?
#3: When I remove the batteries for storage and keep them fully charged with my Battery Tender Plus 12V - 1.25A I believe they need to be hooked up in series to be charged as a 12 volt "set", correct?

I think #3 answers my own question. I need 12 volts for my 12 volt trailer system to operate so two 6V batteries need to be hooked up in series. Yes?

The two 6v batteries in series will provide 12v for the TT

The convertor will will work with two 6v batteries in series or two 12v batteries in parallel providing 12+ v for charging

Yes, same as the convertor.

A pretty easy way to keep this straight is 6+6=12. Two 6vdc batteries in series produces 12vdc. Two batteries of the same voltage in parallel will have greater storage capacity, but still produce the same voltage as on battery.
Since our Keystones are all 12vdc, any application of 6vdc batteries has to be in series. Charging, operating, etc. all have the same requirements.
By the same rules, 4 6vdc batteries would set up as two pair in series and then the pairs wired in parallel. I knew some folks years ago that outfitted their TT this way plus installed a serious solar array on the roof. With the right sized inverter, they were able to operate totally off grid in the southern US, including running the AC. It was very impressive.

Tiffen motorhomes use 6 6V batteries. I have to draw a schematic on a piece of paper when I change them. LOL

I remove lots of batteries from boats that often have lots of leads. The smartphone is great but I bring a handful of zipties to the show and zip tie all the ring terminals from each battery post togethet then move on to the next post. Then none of the wires "sneak off" and get missed when it's time to put batteries back in. Nothing worse than missing a single ground and having an entire stereo system not work.
