Samsung residential fridge always a deal breaker. Samsung class action suit, breakdowns , and such kept us from a Cedar Creek. Our Montana’s fridge (double door) holds all the food two people can eat...even Americans. And we scrape by on two ice trays. Carrying bags of ice? How many margaritas can you drink? We live in our camper Jan-May in the South or anywhere warm enuff for my bride of 38 years. Death Valley, Big Bend, Del Rio, all over AZ, etc. We never had a single fridge issue in the last five campers. W did meet many folks whose residential fridges slid out of place, died (Samsungs), etc. Many had to tie them in place. So you enjoy your Samsung...and you can have any targeted at me.

PS: we have s Dometic in our second camper. A 1964 Fireball Meteor. Cools just great! And THAT is longevity! It can freeze like crazy. When you have poor electricity you can devote your amps to the AC and such while ising propane on your DSI.

I assume people like the convenience of a residential fridge. Not me. I have enough stuff to take care of and repair. Not interested in adding an inverted, 7K generator, etc. to the list of items that cost money to keep running.

When the wife and I first walked in to our gently used 2015 Sprinter fifth wheel at the dealer, she immediately fell in love with the Samsung frig. I was a bit apprehensive about it, but we had lived with a 6cf gas/electric frig in our previous 18 footer. She likes to cook in our camper and seemed never to have the fridge space she needed. We mostly camp hooked up, but have dry camped for a couple of days at a time on a few occasions. The longest was 5 days at the Albuquerque Balloon festival. With the addition of a 200 watt solar panel system to our existing dual 12v batteries, we have figured out a routine of running our Inverter generator an hour or so in the morning, and a couple of hours in the evening up to quite time. This is usually sufficient to keep the fridge going overnight, and the solar panels keep it up during the day. We do turn on the Energy Saver and bump the freezer temp up to its max temp (8 degrees) and practice energy conservation. And as stated in other post, the TV keeps batteries charged in transit. The fridge maintains rock solid temp control and we really like the ice maker. It’s going on 3 years old and has not given any problem. While long term reliability is still to be determined, if the day does come for replacement, It won’t break the bank. These run in the neighborhood of $1000, compare that to around 3- 4 grand for a comparable size (18cf ) RV fridge. Certainly a residential fridge in not for everybody, but should not be automatically ruled out. Just depends on your style of camping.
