I made an 80 buck mistake

OK, as my sig says, I own a Ford. Great truck --- but the headlights like many of the current Big Three have crappy headlights. I went overboard and decided that a set of 'premium' LEDs would work. So off to SuperBrightLEDS went my bucks. Super easy installation

The low beams - wow, are they ever good. I can actually see. High beams - not too sure about but no real test time.

We just got back from a fairly lengthy trip and actually had to use the high beam. OMG - they are l-o-u-s-y. The originals Sylvanias were better. Bright - sure are. Beam - what beam, it's just bright scatter but no further then the low beams.

I just replaced the LEDs with some new Phillips Crystal Vision.Ultras

If anyone wants to take a chance on using these on their truck or car, make me a reasonable offer via PM - they are virtually new and 9008 configuration. You can find their specs on SuperBright LEDs

The problem as I understand it is that the reflector in the lense is not designed for LED projection. The are designed for halogens. A new lense housing designed for LED’s is really necessary for the mod. I have an explorer with the factory LED’s and I’m sure the new Super Duty’s with the factory LED’s are awesome but I haven’t found a reflector housing I’d be happy with yet on my 2016.

These 'premium 'ights were supposed to have taken that poor reflector design into account. The low beams are great but even with the ability to re-index the bulb just doesn't happen. I can only pull the grille and housings just so many times before it becomes a waste of time. I refuse to pay 5-600 for Recon or other similar brands so it looks like standard halogens will be the only way unless some comes up with a properly designed and priced retrofit

I installed HID headlights on my new to me 2016 F350.....just like the ones I had on my 2011 F250 for the last 6 years. They provide...OMG lights and without blinding oncoming drivers. I had no desire to get projectors lenses installed in the existing housing, and the housing that are on the truck have the "capped" end piece, so I didn't even need to order capped bulbs with this install. Some adjustment for the up and down was required, but overall, it was a pretty simple job and one that makes a world of difference in the lighting of the truck for night driving.

Probably a good way to go but I've in the past looked at the HID conversion as well as under the hood of my truck and have a hard time visualizing room for the parts needed other then the bulb. Maybe when(if?) one of my new bulbs burns out, I'll revisit the mod.

Hi Vernon,

Do you have more information on the HID conversion kit that you used?
