don't the newer SRW F350's have a GVWR of 11,500 and GCWR around 28,000? seems like that should be fine for a TH that size. I know that's not what the OP has, my comment is more in reference to kxfgreenie's "any SRW" comment. I'm not arguing, but asking honestly since I plan to upgrade my 02 F350 to a newer model at some point, but really don't want to go dually if a SRW would get the job done with a reasonable margin.

Mine has a GCWR of 22.5k, but the limitation with the SRW rigs is the payload. With only a single pair of tires out back, you're limiting the rear GAWR which impacts the payload. A dually literally doubles the rear axle carrying capacity and payload capacity.

Yup payload = problem with a Large 5th wheel RV, even with a 350 SRW the pin on a 16,000 LB trailer is going to be substantial.

2017 F350 Crew Cab 4x4 159.8 Base Weight 7499, Max GVWR 11,500. Sounds great almost 4,000 lb payload. Problem is that is the base weight of the XL or whatever ford wants to call it not the xlt, not the lariat, not the king ranch. So your probably tipping the scales on a lariat at over 8000K so your down to a 3500k payload. Add a 200 LB 5th wheel hitch, wife, kids pets what ever, down to 3100-3200 LB's if your lucky. The DRY pin on the Fuzion's are all over 3000K. That is why your in dually territory on most large 5th Toy Haulers

I guess the newer models must weigh a bit more. I weighed my 02 SRW F350 (7.3 4x4 CC LB XLT), with me in it, and the hitch installed (Pullrite Super 5th), at 7420 lbs. My truck does have a lower GVWR than the newer ones though. I haven't had a chance to put my Carbon 337 on a scale yet, so I don't know pin weight for it loaded.

And actually, that 4000 lb payload is probably a 2WD with a gas motor. Subtract the 4x4 weight and the Diesel motor weight, and I'd be surprised if the payload isn't down to 2800-2900 lbs......before the hitch, wife, kids, pets, and whatever else you put in it.

Base weights posted are actually for a 6.7 4wd, off the Ford charts. Your weights are close though. See link below.

I suspect you're right. My bad. I don't normally watch nor carry on conversations with language from comedies.

If I remember correctly when I worked at a Ford dealership about a year ago, an F350 SRW Platinum 4x4 had a payload around 3500 lbs. Definitely not enough room for a 5er with 3000 on the pin. I remember it because we had a guy looking to buy it because he was planning to buy a Jayco Pinnacle, I showed him all of the weights and told him he needed to look at the dually we had.

I have a carbon 33

I pull with a gmc 2500 duramax. I have 1 800ish lb bike in the back, last time I was at the Cat scales (3 months ago) loaded weight plus dogs was 11300. I purged a bit when I got where I was going because it did not pulll/stop as easily as it did at 10,800. 500 lb made a huge difference! I am nowhere near what my truck can do, but was definitely above MY comfort level.
