I have a buddy who only uses toilet to pee in, toilet paper goes in a trash bag. Their thought is if you never poo in it, the resell value will be higher. Where's the popcorn? Next!

No popcorn needed. I do the same thing. We camp frequently at COE parks where there are no sewer hookups. I frequently dump the tanks during long stays using a Barker Blue Tote that gets stored on the camper when we leave. Putting liquids only in it just makes it easier to keep it clean and to keep odors down.

I'm waiting for my popcorn to finish popping. We use the shower for the cat box. Otherwise, everything else is utilized for its intended purpose.

I know a lot of people who don't use the toilet. Whatever. They take off their shoes when they go in, too. My daughter talked me out of buying a "high end" rig once, she said "Dad, you won't let us use it". While maybe true , I got it to "use it", and I do. I will walk to the toilets at a SP I frequent that doesn't have sewer hookups if I'm going to be there for more than a couple days, but other than that, it is there to use. And they always look just like new when I trade them in. I even got a comment from the dealership owner last time I traded, he said "Do you ever use this?". It was 5 years old.

I basically despise public restrooms and showers. I could elaborate, but someone is eating popcorn and I'll be polite. Why have something if you aren't going to use it?

I just don't understand the logic of not using it, especially for the trade in reason. Any time we ever traded, no one even looked at it ahead of time. I would think the dealers expect you to use it. If you are dumping, you can be dumping "everything."

Why is personal choice a problem here?

Y'all poop where you want to I don't care. Me I bought the camper as a tool just like my truck, my hand tools, my chainsaw, etc . And I use my tools. Otherwise why would I buy them.

Yup.
A toilet and shower is one of several reasons we upgraded from our last.
Not using the bathroom is a waste if you ask me.
Resale? LOL... the buyer will want to know it works. Never using it can't be good for it.
Better not use that air conditioner... will want it in perfect condition when you sell!

It's not. We're just expressing our personal choice, too. Everyone uses their trailer as they desire.

We generally use the campground facilities (our state parks actually have very nice showers and bathrooms) over our own, unless it is at night and I'd have to pull clothes on to go out.
Probably comes from years of tent/pop-up camping, but it also hearkens back to a great Dave Barry column from years ago on dealing with toilets, along the lines of: "first, determine if this is a toilet for which you are responsible." While I would never mistreat a public facility, it's also not my responsibility to fix a clog or problem.
We do end up at the dump station with gray water anyway, but the less blackwater I have to deal with, the happier I am.
Also the campground has a heck of a lot more hot water than the trailer can put out and at higher pressure. Much easier to wash my hair.

We bought it to use it, just like Javi and others have said. Like the rest of y'all we worked hard for our money and have looked after it diligently. Not many "po' folks" here on this forum. But I am simply not going to put toilet paper in a bathroom trashcan nor am I going to take off my shoes to enter my RV nor would I ask others to do that. We buy Scott brand Rapid Dissolving toilet paper, it is the best. Yes, we've tested them all. And we have two areas to wipe our shoes. Another thing? I don't worry in the least what this rig is worth down the road. I couldn't care less what the salesman thinks of the condition of this RV. When we bought it we already knew how little the return would be.
Desert had it right when he said everyone should do it their own way...
When you see us in the RV park, come on over. Come on in, open a cold one and poop if you like. But at least wipe your feet if you will.
And now I'm going to have to get down off my soap box.....my popcorn is done!

Only twice in four years fulltimin' have we used CG showers...and did not really care for it. We pull into a Rest Area every day when we are traveling from point A to B, and we us our own restroom in the 5vr. We made sure our floorplan allowed us to use the restroom and get to the fridge without actuating the slides.
I can't imagine a dealer or personal buyer giving you more money because you didn't "poop-in-the-pot!"

I try and take my morning beer poops in someone else's facilities as they can be interesting to say the least, otherwise I use our rig. After dark you can often find me relieving my beer waste in the woods or tucked in my slide "corner". To much work when sitting around the campfire to climb those stairs once the seal is broken, when no one can see me....

Granted, I'm a short-timer as far as owning a camping type trailer (we've only had it out 3 times so far), and every track that we go to for track days have showers and bathrooms onsite. Since I'm a staff employee for the trackday organization, we get into the facility before the customers do and we park close to the main registration/tech inspection area....which is close to the showers/bathrooms. So far, we have not used the toilet in the T.H., but have used the shower once each (it's tiny for sure). I really don't want to mess around with having to go to a dump station when we leave the track, and there are none at the tracks, so we simply have not used the facilities yet. I'm sure that when we actually start "camping", and not at a racetrack, the time will come. Until then, my black tank is just an ornament for the time being!

We use ours, but the kids don't. They just cannot seem to grasp the concept of using a lot of water when they flush. I've gotten tired of cleaning out a clogged black tank. The DW can fill a gray tank in less time than it takes to actually run enough water to fill it, I don't know how she does it. The last time we dry camped the fresh water was gone and the gray tanks full half way through day 2.

That is the main reason I almost never use public restrooms, CG or not. Some people are just plain old nasty..
