Generac ix2000

I'm on a mission to either quiet my existing Coleman 1850 or find myself a new quiet running generator. Last night while doing a little shopping with my wife I wandered off to the tool section of the store. Came across a Generac ix2000 generator. $799.00 Canadian. Ther kid at the store new nothing about it. I recall someone a while back discussing this model in one of the camping forums. Has anyone purchased one and what are your thoughts? Curious as to how it compares to the little red models. One thing I did notice is it appears they cannot be interfaced together as the Hondas can be. One web site I was on this morning listed the noice output at 50db. Thinking that is lower than the Hondas. Having said that if this is true I can't believe every camping forum in existance is not all over that.
Opinions???
Cheers,
Dave

Honda EU 2000

My wife and I are pretty frugal people but when it came to our neighbors and noise we went with a Honda. Great unit and extremely quiet and reliable.

I have a Champion 2000i. It's basically as quiet as the Honda or Yamaha. You can get them for as cheap as $399 (USD). It will run pretty much everything but the A/C.

I might get another 2000i (parallel kit) or the 3100w Champion to run the A/C.

I purchased the Champion 3100 inverter at Costco for $699 + tax and free shipping.

It will start and run the 15K AC unit on my camper and whatever else was running time (converter, outside fridge, etc).

I am very happy with it, you can stand next to it, while it is running and carry on a normal conversation. It has started on the first pull 99% of the times I have used it and I can load it into the bed of the truck by myself.

ive got one of these generac ix 2000 generators, paid $449 for it at Costco. (they have them on the US website for Costco right now too. I will say its a fine generator. it is slightly louder than a Honda. I measured it at 65db on eco mode vs Honda at like 53db. I have a Yamaha 4500 for bigger trips an take this generac one when I don't need ac or huge power demands. It will run the trailer fine. It grabs a gear when you run the coffee pot or blow dryer etc. Its a little louder than a Honda but for the price a decent choice. Has smart throttle and is much quieter when there is not a draw on it. There are some other threads on here with good generator reviews too. I would not hesitate buying this but if you are going to use a lot and want truly quiet operations the Honda is impossible to beat.

I have two Champion 2000i's with the parallel kit, I love the way they stack with the kit between them, well thought out, quiet, light, good price and very reliable, also like the fact that there is a fuel shutoff so you can run the carbs dry before storing.

I've been looking hard at smaller generators. I think the ix2000 is being replaced with the iq2000. It can get a bit confusing to me. I swear I saw a photo of a generac with an extended run fuel tank. The gen sat on the tank. I can't seem to find it again. I'm looking at 2 of the smaller gens. Either Smarter Tools, Generac, Champion, Ryobi, or Honda.
I've got the Champion 3500, but once I put in the bed of the truck with an engine lift it stays there, it's too heavy to move by myself.

you are right, the iq2000 is coming and they say its quieter than Honda. The big difference is you can run it in parallel too, so that is a plus the ix 2000 does not have. I had a smarter tools 2000, that was a nice little generator too. no issues, I think a little quieter than the ix 2000.

Someone made mention of the iq2000. That intrigues me. Did a little research on it. Appears to be a step up from the ix model. It can also be paralleled to a second unit. Has anyone seen it for sale yet in Ontario Canada yey? It may end up being price comparative to the Honda model. I've got a Generac 6000 that runs my switch over system at home as does my neighbor. Has been flawless for 6 years now. I think they build a quality product.

I haven't had great luck with Generac RV generators compared to Onan, but I think they stopped building them... You guys have me interested in the 2000.. I'd love the Honda, just not willing to pay for it.

Amazon has the iq2000 for $740.
I have a 20,000 watt Generac whole house back up nat gas powered generator that has been relatively trouble free. One circuit board replaced under warranty.
I see that Home Depot, Costco, and WalMart are either out of stock or no longer selling the Smarter Tools generator.
