Near Milwaukee, WI

We are looking for a nice campground near Milwaukee, WI - would like full hookups.
We are not traveling with children, and don't need a swimming pool.
Any suggestions?

Just my 2 cents, unless you have something going on in Milwaukee, go a little further north around Sheboygan or Manitowoc. Wish I could be more help than this. I have seen many parks in these areas, but have not stayed at any of them to give feedback or recommendations.

If you're needing to stay in the Milwaukee area, there's an RV park at the fairgrounds in West Allis (just outside Milwaukee) with full hookup, but no cable tv and the spaces are paved but they are not level (some have quite a bit of slope). One warning, they tell you to use entrance onto grounds that's on east side of park (off of 76th St). Well, it has a really big dip in the road and I've seen several trailers bottom out on it. If you stay there, use the entrance on the west side (off of 84th St), over by the Pettit National Ice Center and drive through the grounds to the RV park. When you leave, use the same route that you came in on to avoid that dip.

Thanks for ideas -

Thanks for the suggestions -

the state fairgrounds does not sound too appealing. We will be heading west; will probably stay near Madison instead.

Any suggestions of good camp grounds near Madison?

One of our favorite campgrounds is River Bend RV Resort in Watertown, which is a little north of I94 and right around half way between Madison and Milwaukee. May not be what you are looking for as you said that you didn't need a pool. This place has a water park so there are lots of kids running around and also lots of golf carts so it will be noisy. Good Luck

I hear ya. the fairgrounds park is not ideal. I wasn't sure if staying in Milwaukee was a must or not, and since it's the only RV park in the metro. . . (there are some trailer parks in the Milwaukee metro area that will rent empty space to RVers, but. . .)

Country View Campground in Mukwonago, WI

This one is about 25-30 minutes out of Milwaukee and close to the Elegant Farmer (Bobby Flay did a "Throwdown" there with brown bag apple pie - yum!)

We stayed there in a tent, but they have full hookups - reasonably priced IMO

Great suggestion

This must be a great campground - it's sold out for the nights that we need!

Thank you!

If you are going towards Madison and don't mind going a little bit north do a google search on campgrounds near Wisconsin Dells. There are many, many nice parks in that area and around Baraboo.

This place is about 20-30 minutes south of Madison. Nice place, we travel and camp with just my wife and I, we like it.

if you feel adventurous and want to go a little sout and west, this place is closer to Dubuque, IA. Small place, extremely quiet, and no frills. We love it!
