Shower Pan Not Caulked

Seems half the folks say caulk the pan (which has a lip behind shower wall), and some say don't to let it dry out any water that may condensate behind the wall. On our first outing we had a major leak on the glass enclosure (leaked out and then then under pan) while showering where the manufacturer didn't caulk (about an inch worth in the bottom corner). Ran into town and bought some good caulk and caulked everything including the pan which manufacturer says you can if you wish. I was so ticked while removing the pan door and cleaning up the leak. Luckily I got most of the sitting water, and a water test on the enclosure passed. I would hydro-test your new enclosure.

Agreed. I feel those little things you CAN do, which you don't HAVE to, often pay off in spades.
