Has Anyone Tried These Bottle Jack Extensions?

Has anyone tried the bottle jack extensions and base plates illustrated in this video?

I particularly like the example of placing blocks under a jack

Looks like a good idea but I would think properly elevating the jack would be more stable than extending the ram.
