Keystone Cougar - tv reception

Hello!

Looking for any info on t.v. we have a brand new Keystone Cougar 2021.
It has the Weingard thing on the roof. Not sure if we should purchase the
Weingard router? ($272). We aren't getting reception at campgrounds?

Please let us know what you are using for T.V. reception.

Thank you,
Chip and Lee

The router isn’t for TV, it’s for WiFi. If you have KeyTV find the module, probably in the convienence center. Make sure the blue light is on. If it’s not then you lost power to it, if it is on then you need to unscrew it and make sure all the coax connections are hooked up properly and tight.

When scanning for Channels you have it set to AIR or ANTENNA?

Hi! ty for the reply. We will check into the Key T.V. We received a little pamphlet on it but aren't familiar with the convenience center...where is it?
Thanks again,
Chip and Lee

Since I’m not familiar with your specific unit, it’s usually outside on the drivers side. It’s where you would hook up the water, and park cable.

I forgot to add, reception will be very dependent on location and terrain. The “omnidirectional” antennas don’t seem to do as good as the old crank up/ turn ones.

They also only have a 50 mile range, in ideal conditions. Anything (hills, trees, etc.) can interfere with the signal. I have an app on my phone called TV Signal Finder that can help locate TV towers and give you the direction and distance.

As a note.... the Gateway router has nothing to do with OTA reception.
The Winegard 360+ is a omnidirectional antenna and while it works perfectly it is not directional and so will not bring in marginal stations.

Currently I am watching TV while using the 360+ in Dawson, Tx with 64 found channels and using 4G LTE to surf the net while connected to the Winegard GW1000 and 360+

Google Dawson, Texas it's out in the boonies but I've got 64 channels

The Keystone website indicates your unit comes with KeyTV. Find where your cable tv is supposed to connect to the RV and that should be your KeyTV module. It should have a blue light lit on it.

You got the skinny on over the air TV. We seldom watch OTA TV as most of the campgrounds we visit in our area of Texas don't have any OTA TV channels available or perhaps one or two and one is usually QVC. We have a Dish Playmaker antenna which feeds one receiver, a Wally receiver and use a DVR to record stuff to watch at a later time. All of this cost about $300 or so. You have Dish at home? Then $7 for your channel line up the same as your home OR you can get their "Pay as You Go" service and I believe you pay for a month up front; if you use 4 days, you stop the service after four days and pay for four days to bring your one month of payment back up to a month. I believe you can start/stop using the Dish app on your phone. We have Dish at home so we pay $7 a month.

For OTA TV we have a King Jack directional and can pull in available channels OK if they are available which they usually are not. I bought the King Jack as my old antenna was pretty much junk as the bottom gears were stripped. You can't watch OTA TV unless you turn your amplifier on and do a scan every time you set up in a new place.
