Handpump Winterization Method

Any one do the winterization with handpump through fresh water intake? Is it a real pain in the arm?

I worry slightly about messing with the connections at the water pump and wonder if this is a viable option

I don't add antifreeze any longer but when I did I used the pump that's in the trailer..

The Flojet pump is a little easier because all you have to do is release the inlet connection and snap on a fitting with a short length of hose to suck the antifreeze from the jug..

The Sureflo pump you need to add a fitting and valve inline

Neither is difficult..

Here's what Javi is talking about. This was how I did winterizing on 2 trailers ago, that did not have a winterizing connection. I could have installed a valve here with the hose attached, but at the time, I never thought of that.

Looks like my set up. I was considering installing a bypass valve but my water pump looks like yours and most likely doesnt have the screw in threads on the water pump needed.

Where did you get the hose and elbow fitting? I was hoping to do a perminant solution but may just need to go your route

Check with your local RV dealership parts store. That's where I got mine. Actually, the hose and elbow were a kit and I had to put it together. That slide release made it real nice and easy. My previous camper had threaded ends. I did the same thing with it, except, I had to unthread the trailer in-line and thread-in the by-pass hose. It was a little more inconvenient, only because it was under a cabinet. The pictures above were under the couch. The underside of the couch was not suitable for storage. The water pump and furnace and wires and pipes were located under there. But, very easy access.
