2015 Hideout 27DBS - lowrider

Hi guys n gals
Last year I bought myself a 2015 keystone 27DBS. It has been a great trailer for us.
My one and only real complaint about it is just how low the thing is.
It’s factory spring over axle, yet the trailer only has 26” 205/75/14 tires.
This must be a keep costs down option.

I would like to move up to 15” wheels and 225 75 15 Goodyear endurance tires (28”)
This will gain me some clearance and avoid scraping the rear jacks like the trailer is currently prone to. (I cut them off for now)

The trailer also has the ez align system or whatever it’s called from the factory. I was going to do a 1.5” solid billet alum block to lift the trailer to accommodate a bigger tire size but doesn’t seem to be a good option according to what I read. I was also thinking about welding longer hangers in place of the original but I’m open to ideas

Anyone have a similar setup? What have you done? Perhaps the tire size will fit without lift but I doubt it.. Thanks!

If I read your post correctly, you are going to loose 4in clearance between the front and rear tires. Is the distance between your axels enough to accommodate this loss in clearance?

Missed an opportunity to visit Thunder Bay year before last. Still on my list of places to visit. Welcome to the forum. Perhaps someone else will be able to answer your question more directly than me.

Hey, if you ever get the chance to go to Thunder Bay I recommend you do..nice place.

Theoretically each tire would be about an inch closer to each other so about 2” total.

I pulled the trigger on some new wheels and 215 75 14 Goodyear endurance.. they are just shy of 27” tall so they should fit the trailer without any lift.

The biggest advantage is I will have 2200lb load carrying capacity per tire, slight bit more ground clearance and the tire is an 8 ply.. seems like the perfect compromise without getting too crazy on the tire size
