First of all, what kind of outlet did you have the trailer plugged into? If it was a "standard wall outlet (15 or 20 amps) you may have had a low voltage situation if other items were operating on the same circuit. If you were on a 30 amp circuit, that could also happen if the electric grid was in a "brown-out" or low voltage situation.
I'd also ask if you're familiar with the operation of your air conditioner? When you turn on the thermostat and call for cooling, the fan will start, a few seconds later, the compressor will start (the delayed starting helps reduce the amperage load at initial start). Then, when the temperature falls to 3 degrees from the setting, the compressor will continue to operate and the fan will stop, switch from high to low and restart. Then when the thermostat setting is reached, the compressor will stop and the fan will continue to run to "take advantage of the remaining cool air". Then the system will shut down (if the fan selector is in AUTO). If the fan setting is in HIGH or LOW, the preceeding is "cancelled" and the fan will not stop, change speed and then resume and it will continue to operate on the speed setting after the thermostat temperature is reached and the compressor stops.
So, is it possible that the "slowdown" you heard was the normal operation of the A/C system when it reached 3 degrees from the thermostat setting?
