Tire problem.

OK, maybe this goes in the tire section.
My Passport 195RB is about a month old.
On the third outing I was, for some strange reason, looking at the tires.
The right rear tire had a screw in the tread. Really deep in the tread.
I left it in untill I got home because as soon as I removed it, it went flat.

The screw is a square drive like RVs use.
I THINK it was picked up while the trailer was being built but....

Are you thinking of trying to get a warranty fix? If so, that's unlikely. Get a TrailerAid, drive up on it, take the tire off and then get it patched. I had to have one fixed just before my first long trip.

Edit: it's a good practice to do a walkaround before any trip, including checking the tire pressure.

While you're getting, get the TrailerAidPlus. It'll lift a bit higher.
Hopefully the tire can be patched. I'd be thinking it would go to spare service.

I've been told the right way to fix a tire is the plug and patch method. There is info in a post titled "Is it safe to run a patched tire".

In that area it's most likely repairable. Get it off and take it to a discount tire store. If repairable they will plug-patch it free.

If you've already parked it where other trailers have parked I doubt you'll get any warranty service unless you have road hazard insurance on the tires.

Did you check the pressure on the tire before you took the screw out? Any tire that has been driven at highway speeds with inflation pressures 20% lower than what is recommended is considered in a "run flat" condition and needs to be dismounted and examined by an experienced tire person.

I wouldn't run a patched tire on my trailer, I think it has already been damaged and everyone know how weak the tires are on trailers. I would run it as a spare or just get a new one. The side of your trailer is worth more than a tire.
This just my opinion and I have had 3 blowouts on less than two year old tires.

I am with Darrylwt on this one. And to add on, I do like my Batteries, get a pair,, save the best tire and let them have the HOLED one. BUt I never save a battery for any thing.
