Garmin gps/camera issue

After finally getting this thing installed It still difficult lining up the ball to the trailer. The camera is mounted right on the license plate and when backing up I find it hard to tell where the coupler is. I don't know if it's because the camera is looking at it straight on or if because everything is black, or if the sun white washes the image.....or all of they above. What I might try next is adding a bright colored dot of sorts to the front of the coupler. If that don't work maybe figure out a way to mount it higher, although might be difficult on a truck bed. Anyone had this issue?

On all of my trailers I have added a piece of reflective red tape to the hitch on the trailer and one on the top of the truck hitch bar. It makes the stand out against the background and even in bright sunshine or darkness you can see them.

So there is a camera on the back of you truck and it is connected to your gps or phone? Seems like a lot for nothing when you can simply back the truck up to the camper and connect. Not sure what there is to gain.

Not everybody has the skills to back the ball right under the coupler. I have seen numerous vehicles with the camera, and even then the "view" can be difficult to decifer. New vehicles can be ordered with cameras. We just put a hitch in a '16 F150 that had front, side, and rear view cameras.

It's seems most vehicles come with them now days,it certainly isn't new technology. I can do it without but it sure helps with a camera. When I got my Garmin it was the model that has a back up camera with it. Thanks for the reflective tape idea.

My wife's car has a camera but I still use the mirrors and turn to look. Things look funny to me with the camera. Half the time when hooking up, my wife will not direct me as she says I do better on my own.

I tried the camera but found these are so much easier, one on the hitch and one on the ball and backup till they touch and the one on the ball fall forward.

Had a camera on the license plate of my last vehicle and now have a camera up in the tailgate handle. Much easier to connect with the camera higher.

Any way you can mount it up higher?

Next for me is a wireless power jack for the front of the trailer. Then I can get all hooked up wothout getting out of the truck
