Colorado I 70 or US 50 diesel fillup stations
My wife and I are planning a late June trip to Grand Junction CO and I have a question regarding easy in/out diesel stations along either I70 from Limon CO or via US24 to US50 out of Pueblo, CO. We have a 2015 Ram 2500 4x4 diesel and will be pulling a 2013 Cougar 31 RKS travel trailer. I’ll fill up in Limon but may need to get diesel before I get to Grand Junction. I am familiar with both routes but have not had to consider diesel fill up pulling a 34/35 foot TT. Suggestions are appreciated.

Best thing to do is check websites for TA, Pilot/Flying J, and Loves. They have the locations listed by state, highway, and exit. Based on your range you can plan your trip out with all of your fuel stops. They also show prices, so you can plan possibly making a short stop to save some money. You will also get better prices for cash payments.

If you have a "smart phone" you may get a Flying J/Pilot app. Or the "Gas Buddy" app.
Or, get a Next Exit book.

On the I70 route, from Denver to Clifton, it is hard to find big rig friendly stations. I would suggest filling in Denver. There is a TA truck stop on the west side of Denver, Ward Road exit, that is pretty RV Friendly. There are lots of truck stops in Grand Junction. There is a new Flying J in Clifton. I have not tried it yet.
It's best to have a full tank before you start up into the mountains. Remember, steep grades, you will burn more fuel than normal.

The TA on the west side of Denver isn't bad, just make sure you stay in the left lane, you have to pull in as soon as you turn left after the stop light and if you are in the right lane you will not get across. The side streets there are not great for turning around (don't ask me how I know). As for using fuel across the steep grades, the last time I went across pulling a 32' TT (7,000 lbs) I averaged 11.5 between Denver and Grand Junction. You have steep grades both up and down, they average out.

Easier to get into and out of: TA at I-70 and Quebec.

On this weekend's trip, I noticed a Conoco station at the Copper Mountain exit. It looked pretty busy, but
It had diesel and enough room to maneuver a big rig. You may have to wait for cars to move, but it is another option.
