Mother Lode Country

We just spent 3 days/nights at the "49er RV Ranch" in Columbia, CA.
This is a relatively small RV park in the foothills just outside the historic town of Columbia (lies between Sonora and Angels Camp. The sites vary in size and can accommodate small TT up to Class A coaches. The staff at this rustic park is beyond friendly and helpful. The park was very clean with wide sites, picnic tables, full hookups with WiFi and cable. Because we were 'first timers' at the park and with our Good Sam, Veterans, and Seniors discounts, we stayed 3 nights for $71.00.
Just thought we would throw it out there in case any of you are thinking of spending some time in this historic region made famous by Mark Twain.

I stayed there in Oct. 2008 and agree it is a nice place. Have you tried Marble Quarry RV park? Its closer to Columbia state park, and IMO just as nice.

Haven't stayed at Marble Quarry. Drove through both parks when we visited DW's brother who lives just outside of Columbia. Sort of just mentally flipped a coin and stayed at the 49er. Seemed to be a LOT of kids at Marble Quarry.

If you guys like pizza, I can highly recommend the Waterwheel for pizza (just south of Columbia airport). They have a Reuben pizza that is incredible. I'm a "kitchen sink", everything except anchovies guy, but the Reuben is my new favorite. You have to try it to believe it.

We live in Angels Camp and thought about overnighting at either of those places. They seem small tho.

We are making our second reservation at the 49r RV resort in Plymouth for a week over the 4th of July for the grands. We like it there - lots of room and things to do for the kids.

Marble quarry has some long sites, and IIRC advertise some "big rig" or motor home sites. Here is a link to the website which includes a site map.

Check out the Angels Camp RV place. Its down the road from Frogtown and seems to be really nice.

There were several 38/40 ft class A coaches at the 49er RV park and there was a toy hauler across from us. Our site (#59) was long enough for a 40 footer.
