Protectall 303
For those that use 303, when you apply it to the roof, do you spray it on, and then rub it out? Or, just spray it and leave it alone??

On the roof, we spray it on, then rub it in with a micro fiber cloth. We probably don't remove all of the excess on the roof. On the sides, we wipe it off a little better to avoid streaking.

Hi,
I use a micro fiber dust mop to apply while standing on a ladder. Rub it on lightly and leave it.

I use a car wash mitt. If I'm doing a small area, I pour it onto the mitt, if I'm doing a larger area, I pour the 303 into a bucket and just keep dipping the mitt into the bucket. It's easy to "wring it out" by just making a fist and pressing the back of your hand against the bucket sidewall.
On the roof, I don't wipe it off, on the sidewalls, I follow with a dry mitt on the other hand. Sort of like the "wax-on/wax-off" in the movie, Karate Kid.....

JRTJH, So what you are saying is you use 303 on the side fiberglass walls in place of using car wax that is recommended or do you use both. Will 303 hurt the decals.

I have never waxed my fiberglass sidewall trailers. I use 303 on the fiberglass and the decals. When new, I painted "glyptol" decal sealer along all the edges of the decals so they wouldn't curl, otherwise, just 303 on the entire trailer. Wax??? What's that???? Never heard of it (well since car paint changed from enamel to lacquer to water based "colorant").....
OOPS: I call the edge sealer I use "glyptol" because that's what we called it in the Air Force. We used it to seal the decals on fighter aircraft. They flew well above the speed of sound and the decals stayed on even when exposed to hydraulic fluid and jet fuel. All good info. How much 303 do you think a 36ft 5th wheel would need? Including the roof.
$44 a gallon on Amazon.

My fifth wheel is 31'. I can do mine almost 2 times with a gallon. If I skimp on the roof and go a little thinner I can get 2 complete coatings with one gallon. You should be able to get at least one complete coating with a gallon, and have some left over for the vinyl on your boats.
I think that if I used it sparingly, sprayed it on instead of saturating a mitt, I could easily get 2 coatings or more with a gallon, but I just dip the mitt into the bucket, get it good and wet, then wring it out so it won't drip and then start "smearing it on". As I said, on the roof I don't wipe it off, but on the sides, I apply a thinner coat and do wipe it off. Otherwise, if it runs or drips (usually around windows, etc) it will streak. If you're doing it in the shade, you'll easily tell if you have enough to coat it all or if you're getting it too thick. Using the mitt, there is some left over in the fabric that you can't wring out and it essentially is "wasted 303" unless you want to keep rubbing it on until the mitt is dry. That part, maybe 1/4 cup is "wasted" when you're done and throw the mitts into the washing machine to clean them for next time.
Chuck, up here I apply it in the spring and then again in the fall before I winterize. If I were in Louisiana or in the desert, I'd probably do it again on a "cool day" halfway through the summer.
You can pretty much tell when it needs another coat, if, when you're washing it, the water forms threads and parts are wet while others are dry, it needs another coat, but if the water pretty much runs off in sheets, you've still got a good coating on it. It won't bead like wax, so don't expect that kind of finish.

Just got a gallon in the mail today. Will be putting the gal and I thru karate kid in the next couple weekends before 100 degree temps hit here. 95 predicted already for next week

A cool summer day in Louisiana was around July or August when early in the morning it wasn't humid and the temp was below 80. Half the trailer that morning, the other half next time it was "cool"... Of course, like Houston, by 11 or so it was too hot to do anything but stay inside and think about winter.
I agree with you, finding a cool day in mid summer is not an easy task. Not doing what would be "fun" on that day to spend it with two mitts and a "wax-on/wax-off" mentality is near impossible..... When it's too hot for catfish to bite, it's definitely too hot to be polishing a trailer.

Aeropace 303 is a line of fiberglass/vinyl cleaners and surface protectants that has been marketed for some time now. It started in the aerospace industry and has migrated to boating, RVing as well as other areas where fiberglass and vinyl products are used and "abused".
