Somewhat bummed right now

And it is my fault. Last year under different circumstances we booked a week for Sept and did not call until mid August. We had a magical week and planned to spend a week again this year. I contacted the campground today and they do not have any of the sites that we like. If we go the week we want they have one site and we are not sure we will like it. If we go a week earlier, they my have one site that will work. I am so bummed. We have a site on hold and need to decide in the next 2-3 days if we want it or not. I am sure it will work out just not what we were planning.

For Campsites in my area you need to book 5 months in advance. The booking opens only 5 months ahead and if you wait even a day you are out of luck for long weekends or premium camp sites. To make it even more of a challenge we have to put in for vacation days for the whole year in February .

Good luck.

Sorry to hear that.

I'm sure you've explored this option, but have you looked at other campgrounds in the same area? Sometimes the hand you are dealt can be better than the hand you were hoping for.

We learned quickly to book as soon as you can. Most of our parks take reservations starting in January, others start in October, and that is for camping beginning in May. We just came back from a trip we had to book in January in order to get the spot we wanted. Sorry for the disappointment though.

ll of our summer plans were booked back in Feb but we held off a little for the fall plans as most campgrounds are pretty empty after Labor Day. We do have one site on hold but not sure we will take it.

We learned this year of the need to book WAY in advance. I added a calendar entry to remind me on December 19 to get the major weekends booked for next year.

Im not sure if Im off topic here but I have a question for people who travel a lot.

Are a lot of newer campgrounds opening ? Every RV show I go to you see hundreds being sold. Campsites seem to be harder to get all the time.

I swear a lot of them are either going private (individuals buying the lots) or timeshare. Try to find a campsite on Shuswap lake is tough.
