Suburban Oven Problems

Ok- Got the pilot lite lite but the main burner will not lite, saw where the thermocouple was mounted in front of the pilot lite, seemed a good bit away from it though. After a while , i took my small butane torch and placed it near the thermocouple, a few seconds later the main burner lite, take it away, it goes out.
Any way to adjust the distance between the pilot and the thermocouple, or how do remove the whole assembly ?

Many Thanks Jim

And speaking about my stove rants; does anyone use the "toaster" feature in these stoves? How many actually broil in them? Why can't manufacturers build a unit that has the burner on the bottom?

Jim,

It looks like your burner tube is cracked and the assembly is twisted counterclockwise about half an inch. If I remember correctly, the mount for the thermocouple is on the burner tube and the pilot is on the mount for the burner tube. This would explain why the thermocouple is no longer in the flame. You may be able to twist it back into the correct position by removing the entire burner tube/pilot assembly and bending it back into shape.

I would urge you to use caution if you decide to do that as the propane flows into the burner tube from behind and if the crack allows the propane to flow in the wrong direction you could get a hot spot in the back of your oven that may cause a fire behind the stove. If you can't get it bent correctly and seal that crack, you may be able to get someone to braise or weld the crack closed to prevent it from opening again. Otherwise, it looks like a new burner assembly. At least that's cheaper than a new stove.

Good Luck !!
