I can see it in his actions:

12' 4" !
How tall am I again?
12' 1" maybe? I'm not sure! I can't remember if it was 12'1" or 12'3"!!
Oh well, too late now, I've passed the turn!

At least he pulled off the main road so all the debris was falling on a side road.

And they give you good warning and an opportunity to turn before going under...duh. You can lead a horse to water...

Just have to wonder, think he had a DW riding shot gun? I could just imagine the conversation:
"Honey, did you see that sign?"
"Hugh? Sign? What sign?"
"The one warning about the low clearence."
"Hugh? Low who?" "Oh damned that bridge looks low."
"That's what the.."
" oh look, there's our turn on the other side!" - steps on the gas
" What was that noise?"
"Hugh? What noise?"

Doubtful a GPS giving directions would have made a difference.

Tomorrow they'll be posting "it worked yesterday, but today we can't get anything on the TV using the antenna, any suggestions?".

The 11 foot 8 inch over pass videos have been around for a long time. That bridge was eventually raised from 11-8 to 12-4.

Regardless, it's still important to always be aware of your trailer height. I taped the height of my trailer to the head liner of my truck so I'd never forget. Even when not towing the trailer, I'm still always conscious of bridge heights.

That's what I did essentially. On my sunv visor a piece of taper with the trailer height and the lock code for the storage lot. I've learned to compensate for the effects of age and wear & tear on the brain.
