Attached here is probably, the best video I've ever watched regarding the subject of "can my truck tow this?" Listen to the entire video. This guy gives practical, real world knowledge, and real user experience. The video does not accuse, or say anyone's choices are wrong, or bad, or a mistake. He presents the facts in a non threatening or intimidating way, and this is good. Simple, straight forward, and leave you to do your own research. Watch it before settling on anything.

The facts a gas 350/3500 may have enough payload to carry a 16,000# TH, but sure would not be enjoyable to pull with!

Yes, I was trying to clarify for the OP the practical side of trying to tow (pull) that much weight with a gasser. Even if they had oodles of payload on a gas dually, trying to pull that much weight unless it was perfectly flat and a dead calm day the engine, and owner, are going to be miserable. Throw in some grades and the engine will be red lined going up AND coming down - not good.

I don't like to argue over one's choice of truck, but you're making a good call on this one!

(Maybe because of my signature line below? )

Well, I did say start to consider ....and that's only because I would be trying to keep the world in check.

Since I am alone on the Isle of Ford in this gaggle of truck connysewers, I am going to start a go-fund-me page and you all can convert me to a Ram truck. Wait a sec... would my insurance premiums go up? I gotta think about this.

OP: Please keep in mind that even a Dually/Diesel can't pull everything. You need to watch the payload sticker. I see many comments above imply that if you get a dually, you're covered. However, at the weight of trailer you are considering, some dually truck are not enough.

For example, my truck has a payload of around 4500 lbs. There have been a few trailers I was considering which I've had to pass on, simply because they would be too much for this truck.

Some dually trucks will have much higher payloads, due to various factors - like the amount of bells and whistles, the GVWR of the truck, etc.

If you purchase your truck first, make sure you watch the payload when you shop for your trailer. You may have to hold back some to find a trailer that will not overload that new dually.

Good luck.
