Grey tank pipe repair

I have a hairline fracture on my grey water pipe. It's about a 15" section, about 2" wide. I can't seem to find a local plumber who can do the work and the rv shop is out until July. I tried using JB Water weld, but didn't work. Any other products that I can use?

Thanks!

That’s a DIY repair IMO. You’ll need 1 1/2” ABS pipe, a flange for the blade valve and a slip fitting.

Cut the pipe near the tank leaving enough room to glue a union (slip fitting) on. Glue the flange onto the pipe. Hold it up to measure how long, cut. Put the valve together so the two side flanges line up. Glue the pipe to the union and done.

I'm not great at plumbing, but could give it a try. Home Depot and Menards in my area do not have 1 1/2" ABS pipe, so I have a message out to a local RV shop to see if they have the parts.

Looking at the pic closer it almost looks like 3” ABS. Your links didn’t work.

I recommend going to a local RV supply place as they will likely have 1 1/2" black ABS and the couplings. Ask them what type glue to use.

As a cheap temporary fix, clean the pipe really good, rough it slightly with sandpaper and give it a wrap with FlexSeal tape.

Ace hardware had 1 1/2 in pipe in stock. I have a ratcheting pipe cutter from some previous pvc projects. I’m going to pick up a coupler and ABS cement tomorrow and the flange should arrive tomorrow from Amazon. Hopefully I don’t mess it up

Ace Hardware has that black ABS? Never saw ABS in our Hardware only (True Value) but did see it on Ace's website. It ain't a tough job especially if there is any give on at least one side (due that part hanging and not hard plumbed to something like the tank). My only advice is to not lay right under the pipe as you cut it. If I have to explain and you don't heed this advice you will figure out why soon enough; least it is a gray tank and not the black.

Even off to the side can get you, ask me how I know

Just for some added security I always use a cleaner/primer when doing any plastic pipe installs/repairs.

Thinking of cleaning it with acetone first before putting on the ABS cement. I ended up ordering a new 1.5” valterra waste valve as the current one is looking well used. That way I will also have new seals. I will work on it this weekend.

Thoughts on using a ratchet pvc cutter on abs?

Should work on ABS if it is sized for 1.5".

An amateur repair but it’s all done; no leaks. Ended up using a hacksaw.

He should be able to clean the crack and than "weld" it with ABS glue. I have fixed several things that way. ABS is workable with Acetone. After it dries overnight you can sand it and it'll look like new.

ABS glue and Acetone is available at your local hardware store.

Goos luck.

Acetone when applied to the skin is known to reduce age spots and the vapors increase your IQ by killing off all the bad brain cells. Acetone will certainly melt ABS but not sure it will penetrate enough to melt into the crack. Guess the ABS glue might fill it but thinking about working under that pipe with acetone increasing my IQ is terrifying.
